Global ocean energy resource report: The largest untapped renewable energy resource

The report is a literature review bringing together existing studies to quantify the worldwide ocean energy generation potential. The findings show that ocean energy can meet 13% of global power demand. This confirms that ocean energy will be major source of renewable power going forward, and help decarbonise power systems along with wind and solar.
IRENA will share insights into its ongoing work on ocean energy, while the European Commission will outline the policy and funding supporting the development of the sector in Europe.
