20.11.23 Renewed support for Ocean Energy in the revised Offshore Strategy

Since the publication of the Offshore Strategy in 2020, several governments jointly committed to increasing Offshore Wind deployment targets in European sea basins. This prompted a stocktaking exercise to reflect new Offshore Wind ambitions in the EU Offshore Strategy.

Ocean Energy Europe seized this opportunity to carry out an intense lobbying campaign within the Commission and the European Parliament to request more ambition for ocean energy. As a result, 5 meetings with Directors took place within the Commission services and 9 MEPs sent a written question to the energy Commissioner. Ocean Energy Europe obtained 3 key wins for ocean energy in the revised strategy.
